F3 Derby Kicks Off the New Season

As the 2025/26 A-League season kicks off, excitement is building across the Central Coast, and none more so than ahead of the M1 Derby clash between our Central Coast Mariners and the Newcastle Jets. Rivalry has always fuelled great days of football, and this fixture is a highlight both on and off the pitch.

Honours, History & Momentum

The Mariners have established themselves among Australia’s elite, collecting silverware and making history along the way. In men’s competition, they’ve lifted the A-League Championship three times and claimed the Premiership (top of the regular season ladder) on three occasions.

The 2023/24 season stands out as the club’s finest: for the first time, the Mariners completed a historic treble, Premiership, Championship and the AFC Cup, becoming the first Australian club to win Asia’s AFC Cup.

On the women’s front, the Mariners have made a rapid and impressive impact since re-entering the A-League Women competition, capturing their first Women’s Championship in just their second season.

The Derby: More Than a Match

The F3 (now M1) Derby between the Mariners and Jets is a fixture with real heat. It’s the longest-standing derby in the A-League Men, tracing back to 2005.
